William A. Temple scrapbooks, 1918-1919.

One scrapbook (1918-1919) contains mostly humorous illustrations, mixed media layouts, and commentary by Temple with some submissions from others in his unit. The second scrapbook includes photographs and ephemera documenting Temple's visit to Rheims, France in May 1919 and several photos and graphics related to a victory parade in Paris on July 14, 1919.

During World War I William Anthony Temple served as a private with Headquarters Section Detachment #8 of the Army Service Corps' engineering division, stationed in Gièvres, France. During his enlistment he helped produce the newspaper "La Crois de Gievres" for his engineering post. Before the war he had worked as a sign painter for Younker Brothers Department Store in Des Moines.
